Independent Research: Existing Music Videos
These are a few music videos that I really like and hope my own will portray similar themes.
I like this video as it captures simple moments of the couples relationship well and creates an interesting mood and feel.
The music video above portrays different ages within a couples relationship. It effectively shows the people are the same with the use of transitioning clips in the same location. It has a really interesting storyline that keeps me enticed the whole way through.

The video above captures the simplicity of love by the idea of the couple filming themselves. As if they are recording their memories. I will definitely be incorporating hand held shots.
Independent Research: Thinking of Ideas
Whilst brainstorming ideas for the concept of my music video I remembered some advertisements on television. Below are some screenshots of two different adverts. The concept of these spilt screen videos is to contrast between two different eras of time. This could be interesting as a music video to show how a couples lifestyle would be different in different periods of time.
EDIT: I love this idea however I have opted to go forward with another option due to low budget meaning it won't look as professional as I would want.
Planning: 60 Second Pitch Script
"I am creating a music video to the chosen song Disclosure - You and Me ft. Eliza Doolittle. I in visage my music video to be around the theme of love. It's going to involve a couple through different stages of their relationship. The good parts and the bad. All aspects of a real relationship. So there will be clips of difficulties along the way. I aim to contrast the different parts of the relationship throughout. Numerous different locations will be used to enhance feelings and emotions within the song. For example a lively, loud, clubbing atmosphere could be used to enhance the faster beats within sections of the song. I hope to include some aspects of performance, such as lip syncing."
Planning: Song Dynamics
I have created a graph to represent the dynamis of my chosen song, Disclosure - You and Me ft. Eliza Doolittle. This shows the intensity at different parts of the song, which will help me in editing my music video to emphasise these points.Planning: Lyrical Analysis
This is a lyrical analysis of the chosen song for my music video: Disclosure - You & Me ft. Eliza Doolittle.
Verse: 1
I’ll be giving up, oh
Home is where the heart is,
And I gave it to you in a paper bag
Even though it’s tarnished
You told me it’s the best you ever had
You got my secret combination
And I don’t be giving that out easily
With my deepest dedication
You can tell that you were brought the same for me
Chorus
So please don’t let go, cause you know exactly what we found
So please don’t let go my darling
You keep me locked up underground
It’s gonna be you and me
It’s gonna be everything you’ve ever dreamed
It’s gonna be who and me
It’s gonna be everything and everything, we’re meant to be
We’re meant to be
Verse: 2
Rolling with the punches
So they won’t get inside our happiness
Love is always hunted,
But your arrows are soaring through my chest
Cause you know you give me something
Yeah you give me exactly what I need
Got my blood pumping
You know you always draw more blood, I bleed
Chorus
So please don’t let go, cause you know exactly what we found
So please don’t let go my darling
You keep me locked up underground
It’s gonna be you and me
It’s gonna be everything you’ve ever dreamed
It’s gonna be who and me
It’s gonna be everything and everything, we’re meant to be
Verse: 3
In you’re big house on the hills
Where you keep your dollar bills
And you stashed my heart
Somewhere in the dark
Keep it safe I know you will
Know you will, know you will
Know you will
I know you will
What's it about?
I think this song is about two people who appear to be in love and focus on themselves and blur out their surroundings and anyone else that tries to interfere. For example the lyrics in the first verse "You got my secret combination, and I don’t be giving that out easily" suggests they have trust in their relationship and are able to open up with one another like they wouldn't be able to do with anyone else. I interpret the chorus as being about one partner reassuring the other that everything between them will work out and be everything they want. This makes me question whether something negative has happened previously or they could even be best friends who are finally admitting their feelings for one another.
Also the music video to this song amplifies my thoughts about the meaning.
